Hiya is thrilled to announce that we have been selected as the winner for the 2016 Fierce Innovation Awards: Telecom Edition. Bust out the champagne and caviar! After breaking out on our own a mere seven months ago, we’re quickly movin’ on up in this technological world!

From the publisher of FierceWireless, FierceTelecom and FierceCable, Fierce Innovation is a carrier-reviewed awards program. The awards are designed to “identify and showcase the telecom and communications technologies that matter the most, and which will have the biggest impact going forward.” That’s us, you guys!

Tell me more about this winning submission, you say? No problem. Meet “Hiya Cloud“. We submitted this bad boy for consideration in the Network and Device Security Category. Hiya Cloud is our network-based call protection. It integrates directly at the network level, allowing Hiya to halt unwanted robocalls before they even reach your device. Unlike on-device solutions, Hiya Cloud provides full call blocking, and does not merely re-route robocalls to voicemail. Most importantly, Hiya Cloud offers ubiquitous protection across all devices. This means all phones and devices, regardless of smartphone operating system or device type, can be protected. Android? Welcome. iPhone? Of course! Blackberry? Bring it on.

It’s always exciting to see your work validated and know that others see its potential and value as well. Many thanks to Fierce Innovation for this honor!

Finalists’ applications were reviewed by an exclusive panel of executives from major telecommunications companies including Verizon, Comcast, Sprint and T-Mobile. Winners were announced during a Live Awards webcast. Good thing we got that popcorn and celebratory confetti ready. Let’s party!

In a Fierce Wireless exclusive, Hiya announces its newest service: Hiya Cloud. This is the first network-level solution for call management that gives carriers the tool they need to comply with the FCC’s demands for phone protection.

“The FCC is shining a light on this issue — it’s an important issue, one that’s plaguing consumers,” Algard said. “Consumer behavior has changed; people are getting so many phone calls now that people don’t even pick up any more unknown phone calls. On the other hand, I think it could be risky if the prescribed solution becomes inflexible…. What’s smart today might have unintended consequences six months down the road.”
