You may think tax season is over, but for scammers it’s all year round! It doesn’t matter what time of year it is, but IRS agents are tricking consumers into giving out personal and financial information for so-called unclaimed tax returns or past due tax returns.
” In January of 2016, the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration reported about 896,000 fraudulent phone calls since October 2013. This has resulted in a total of $26.5 million stolen from 5,000 victims,” reports Team Clark.
